ABOUT US

Burscough Wharf opened its doors to the paying public in Saturday 12th February 2011 when thousands of people visited over Valentine’s Weekend to see West Lancashire’s newest retail and leisure development which is centred around food and drink, arts and crafts, the creative industries, fashion and the community. The Wharf is a unique development in the heart of Burscough town centre which has involved the refurbishment and redevelopment of over 12,000 square feet of former canalside buildings.

A vibrant retail and leisure development has been created that trades 7 days a week from early morning to late at night.  The Wharf is at the heart of the community with regular outside events taking place in the courtyard to include food & drink festivals, heritage events, family and charity days, music and street entertainment amongst others.

Burscough is a growing town that acts as a service centre for its rural hinterland and the development has transformed the town centre by linking the Leeds/Liverpool Canal to the central retail area and all the local amenities.  Last year the canal towpath was formally declared a cycle route linking Southport Pier to Wigan Pier.  The Wharf is almost half way between the two towns and an ideal stopping point.  Bike hire is also available from the Central Courtyard.  Other major attractions are easily accessible from the Wharf including Martin Mere, Windmill Farm and Rufford Old Hall.  There are a myriad of walking opportunities also available.

There are regular train services to Southport, Wigan and Manchester from Burscough Bridge Railway Station which is a short walk away.  Burscough’s second railway station Burscough Junction  also connects the town to Preston to the north and Ormskirk and Liverpool to the south.

Burscough Wharf is an award winning development that acts as a unique focal point for both the local community, the residents of the surrounding villages and visitors from far and wide.
